Flying into Florence’s Amerigo Vespucci Airport (FLR)

The Florence Airport is connected to some of Europe's major airports such as Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brussels, Bucharest, Frankfurt, Geneva, London Gatwick, Madrid, Munich, Paris Charles de Gaulle and Vienna. There are also flights to and from the following Italian cities: Bologna, Cagliari, Catania, Milan Malpensa, Olbia, Palermo, Rome Fiumicino, Turin and Verona.

Almost all major airlines service Florence either directly or through codeshare. In searching for flights, consider also flying into Pisa, Tuscany’s other major airport. That may produce more flight options and a lower ticket costs from some departure cities/countries. Regular buses connect Pisa to the center of Florence.

Florence’s airport is located 4km’s from downtown and can be reached in about 15 minutes by taxi, and in about 20 minutes with the Busitalia SITA Nord "Vola in Bus" bus shuttle operating between the airport and the central railway station of Santa Maria Novella. The cost is 6 euros and it departs every 30 minutes between 5:30 am and 8:30 pm then every hour until 11:45 pm. Taxi’s are also available.

Accommodation

The conference will be held in the Palazzo Coppini in the heart of Florence. Several hotels can be found nearby along with many other options for accommodation - from apartments to B&B’s and hostels.

No specific accommodation has been identified by the conference organizers and attendees are expected to book accommodation according to their own needs. A wide variety of hotels and prices are available around the Santa Maria Novella Train Station and the landmark Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, both of which are very close to the meeting facilities.

You are also encouraged to support conference organizing partner Life Beyond Tourism by using the reservation portal www.vivafirenze.it Choose from over 200 accommodation facilities (the hotel fares are the same as in other international reservation portals) by location, category, etc. Booking your stay with Vivafirenze.it results in a financial contribution from Vivafirenze to support a crowd funding campaign for 4 special restoration projects in Florence (click here for details).
