As the field of AI continues to evolve, it is essential to understand the depth, breadth, and timelines of its potential impact. AI-powered systems are already being deployed in a wide range of applications, from personalized recommendations on e-commerce platforms to autonomous vehicles navigating complex urban environments.
However, the far-reaching social, political, legal, and ecological implications of these systems have not always been adequately addressed. Scholars have highlighted the need to consider the broader societal effects of AI, as these systems become increasingly integrated into our daily lives. (Box‐Steffensmeier et al., 2022)
The discourse on the impact of AI on democratic processes and decision-making has gained significant attention, underscoring the importance of ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability in the development and deployment of these technologies. (König & Wenzelburger, 2021)
The competition for leadership in AI is fierce, with the United States, China, and Europe vying for dominance in this rapidly evolving field.
