How We First Met. I’d like to share a little story about my foster parent, Mrs. Sandy Clement, who lives in Duncan, Canada. We actually connected because of our love for Michael Jackson’s music.

I’ve been friends with Sandy for more than 17 years. Back in the 1990s, I was a huge fan of Michael Jackson and decided to join some online fan communities. I was a bit late to the internet world only really started using it around 2001 but that’s when everything began.

One day, while browsing a Michael Jackson forum, I noticed a member named Sandy Clement. Since I could communicate in English, I started chatting with her. Soon, our conversations moved beyond the forum into personal correspondence, mostly through email

A Friendship That Grew Strong
Over the years, Sandy and I have stayed in touch. From her stories, I learned about her life, her family, and her husband Ross, who treats her very well. They have children who are now grown up.

To me, Sandy is more than a friend she feels like family. She often calls me her own child, and our conversations usually revolve around Michael Jackson (of course!) as well as daily life, hobbies, and family updates.

A Dream Yet to Come True

I’ve always dreamed of visiting Sandy in Duncan, Canada. She once hoped to invite me, too. But as you can imagine, traveling to Canada isn’t cheap, and so far, financial limitations have kept both of us from making it happen.

For now, we stay connected mostly through Facebook Messenger. I once suggested a video call, but due to device issues, it hasn’t worked out. Still, even without meeting in person, our friendship has remained strong for all these years.

Staying Connected Across Distance
Maybe one day I’ll finally be able to meet Sandy in Canada. Until then, I’m grateful that we can keep in touch online. Friendships like this prove that distance doesn’t really matter when there’s genuine care and connection.

Have you ever had a long-distance friendship like this? Share your story in the comments below I’d love to hear it!
