Jalan Gajahmada is Closed
Pontianak City Government temporarily closed access to Jalan Gajah Mada starting Thursday (2/4). This closure is valid from 09.00 until 18.00 WIB. This policy was taken as an effort to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak.

"We will close the Gajah Mada Road section. The closure starts at 09.00 until 18.00, "said Pontianak Mayor, Edi Rusdi Kamtono, Tuesday (3/31). It is not yet certain how long the road will be closed.

According to Edi, the access road will be reopened if the situation related to the corona outbreak in Pontianak has improved. Why Jalan Gajah Mada? The thing is, there are still many activities on the road. There is a possibility that the closure will also be applied to other roads that have a lot of activities.

Coordination in the context of closing this road has been carried out with the Pontianak City Police Chief. "Hopefully with the closure of these lanes can prevent the spread of the coronavirus in Pontianak," he said.

He added the activities of residents and businesses on Jalan Gajah Mada could continue to run as usual, despite restrictions. "Like hotels, for the people to access it there can be coordinated with the guardian who has been stationed there," he explained (Source Pontianak Post)
