- Asep Haryono | Why is Paris so popular among art enthusiasts? - Powered by Blogger
Paris has traditionally been known as a city of the arts. We examine why it has that reputation and whether it is truly a city worth visiting for art enthusiasts. The "city of love" is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the planet. In reality, it contends for the number one place each year, usually with Bangkok. Many visitors to the city come for the art scene, but what makes Paris so popular with art lovers?
You're probably thinking, "That's easy, it's the Louvre," and you'd be correct. Yes, but also no. You are correct in that the Louvre is without a doubt the most distinctive and famous museum in Paris, if not the globe. It houses almost 38,000 items of art, including (possibly) history's most renowned painting, the Mona Lisa. If you believe that's all Paris has to offer, you're mistaken.

Are there any more galleries or museums?
Oh yes. In reality, there are over 130 museums and art galleries to explore in Paris. Of course, this is way too many to visit while on vacation. If you're thinking about moving to Paris to see them, you're not the first person to think of it. The Louvre's 38,000 pieces of art must make it the largest collection in Paris, right? It is, in fact, not even close.
The Pompidou Center houses a remarkable 120,000 pieces of art, making it Europe's greatest collection. Many individuals come to see the king of contemporary art merely for the magnificent building design. On the first Sunday of each month, you can even see the permanent collection for free.
There are so many more options. The Musée des Arts et Métiers, called after arts and crafts, is also Europe's oldest science museum. The Musée d'Orsay is Paris's second most popular museum and the best for impressionist art. Also worth a visit is the Pinault Collection at the Bourse de Commerce, a more experimental and alternative art exhibition.
The town itself
As if that weren't enough, many people regard Paris as a work of art in and of itself. Paris was once considered an unsightly city until Napoleon commissioned Georges-Eugène Haussmann to remodel it in the 19th century. At this era, much of the exquisite architecture and broad open boulevards were created. Nowadays, Paris is a wonderful city to roam around in, and you might feel as if you're in a museum even if you're not!
Then I should book my flight.
You absolutely should! Indeed, Paris is a wonderful place to visit on holiday, and even better to live in for a few months if you have the opportunity. According to recent reports, Ukio has established their first flat in Paris. This implies that, in addition to the typical options such as hotels and hostels, renting an apartment for a few weeks or months is now easier than ever.
Once you've chosen the perfect spot to stay, all you have to do is book a flight and you'll be able to enjoy Paris' fantastic art scene.Source:
