Help us to keep our home
Once upon the time in March 10, 2008, at the time my wife have planned to check her pregnancy who over around 9 months at Rumah Sakit Bersalin "Jeumpa" located in Jalan Sutan Syahrir in Pontianak, the capital city of West Kalimantan.

I still remember quite well that that day is a schedule for my wife to check her pregnancy in a regular date to Dr Taufiq.

I and my wife went to the hospital around at 10.00 AM in the morning that day, and we drove with our motor bike, Honda SupraFix KB 3815 HY , with normal speed to the hospital for daily checking as our monthly routine checking for my wife's pregnancy.

After waiting for one hour, due to lots of "ibu ibu" already on the waiting list, and we came quite late that time however we have made the arrangement to meet the doctor. We both entered the doctor room and starting checking to my wife's pregnancy. "Bu Uut, I think the time to giving birth to baby will be around tomorrow early Subuh" said doctor Taufiq. We both very surprised to know the possibility to give birth to baby will come soon.

Very Touching Moments
"I suggest Bu Uut to stay here and take the room for birth processing will be on tomorrow I hope" said doctor Taufiq. I did not have the money to support my wife to take room at the hospital, and I decided to do so. Paying is another case.

We both finished checking in his room, and we both soon come to the registering desk to order a room due to my wife will be planned to give birth to a baby tomorrow subuh.

I accompanied my wife in the room at night and welcoming Subuh together. The time has come when the time showed exactly at 02.00 WIB nearly Subuh. My wife was suffering and hold her stomach for I don't know what to say. There were more than three nurses helped my wife walked through the room to surgery operation.

I asked permission to one of the nurse to accompany my wife to witness my wife's birth processing. The nurses was wondering whether I was "ready" to see anything that might happen that day including any risk, and I said "yes, I was ready to see the risk".

I came along with my wife and several nurses in the birth processing room that day.

To shorten the stories, the birth processing was running. Unfortunately I was not taking the digital camera to capture the moments of my wife is giving birth to baby. I bought my old fashion camera with me and the camera left behind at the room.

I saw many blood and many nurses helped my wife gave birth to baby.

My wife was screaming, and two of those talented nurses holded down my wife's leg and another two nurses helping in birth processing.

I was beside on my wife's head and I saw the baby was released out and crying very loudly. Yes, that day a baby born safe and sound. Syukur Alhamdulillah, one of the nurses looked at the genital part of the baby and whispered " You have had beauty baby boy". I have had a baby boy. Alhamdulillah. Awesome

One day after giving birth to baby on March 12nd, 2008, my wife and our baby boy stayed in the room together. Photo taken by Asep Haryono

I was lucky to capture some photos during that time and I never missed the opportunity to capture some photos around the baby. Some photos taken at the front of the hospital Rumah Sakit Bersalin JEUMPA and some photos with the nurses.

Thanks To Allah SWT for this, and my wife gave birth to baby with normal way. Do you want to know how much the fees are for the baby birth processing at the Rumah sakit Bersalin "JEUMPA"?

My wife ordered another services for the baby boy such as additional food and nutrition, and the total cost were around Rp.1.975.000,- . It was quite affordable with the normal process with that amount.

Four days after the date of the baby born, I and my wife took the baby boy home with the taxi and I bought already many baby's need such as baby's hair oil, bedak bayi (baby powder), baby soap, and many baby's tool including a doll. We had Popeye doll in the room in my house.

My wife at the time ( March 2008) was still teaching TK and KB at Al Azhar located in Jalan Ahmad Yani Pontianak, and we have received many "kado", "bingkisan" and "hadiah" for my wife's teaching staff and partner from the Al Azhar. Yes we received many gifts, prizes and presentation from my friends every where.

A moment with Abbie at home March 2008. Family documentation. Photo by Rudi Maryati

We name our first baby boy with "Abbie Muhammad Furqan Haryono" which meaning something simple, Abbie = joy in Islamic way, Muhammad means because of the march in Islamic calendar was the month of Muhammad born in the world, Rabiul Awal, so we named it after the month. The Furqan means "To differentiate the good and bad things" and the last name "Haryono" is my last name, Asep Haryono

There was a little story behind the name of Abbie here. Do you know Mr Viryan Azis? I think many of you recognized mr Viryan Azis , a great man of Dompet Umat. The name "Abbie" was from Mr Viryan Azis's idea and suggestion. I requested a name to him, and he suggested the name "Abbie" for the baby. As token of appreciation , I and my wife agree with his idea, and we name our baby boy with the first name "Abbie". Thanks Mr Viryan

Once upon a while when me and the other six Kang Guru Indonesia champion get together again in Bali last 12th to 14th of July 2009 if I am not mistaken.

The event at this moment is celebrating winners of Kang Guru Indonesia Wall Magazine at The Kang Guru Indonesia head quarter in Denpasar Bali.

Today's posting is not sharing about the celebrations which will be posted in the following days, but just a simple stories of my visit to Erlangga and Krisna, merchandise of local Balinese that are very famous in the island of GOD. For those used to be those two places will certainly agree with me to make their location as main resources to get Balinese merchandise with affordable prices.

This is a small notes only, and I have planned to share with all of you today as simple description about them in a narative stories. If you need further information about the Erlangga and Krisna, then you can find them on the Internet. They will show you hundreds of information about those places. This is a small note from my experience only.

Erlangga 2
As usual, after we have packed with us and had for breakfast at hotel, we decided to go as soon as we can to the Kang Guru Indonesia base located in Jalan Sesetan, Indonesia Australia Language Foundation (I/A/L/F) Building. Could I add however that the building located at the same field with the Kang Guru Indonesia.

We took a bluebird cab around the IALF Building, and the staff at the IALF helped us ordered the cab for us to return to the Kang Guru Indonesia in Jalan Sesetan, Denpasar Bali. Having finished our program at the Kang Guru Indonesia headquarter , located in the 2nd floor , the Kang Guru Indonesia champion decided to break formation.

What I mean is that some of the Kang Guru Indonesia champions return again at the hotel, and some of us continuing journey to some other places around Kuta and Denpasar for hunting the Balinese merchandises. I and Syahrir Badulu (Kang Guru Indonesia champion from Makasar) decided to visit Erlangga and Krisna for several goals. Shopping absolutely.

I and Syahrir Badulu packed with us some books with us , absolutely due to we have just finished our program at the Kang Guru Indonesia , we took a bluebird cab and ordered the driver to take us to Erlangga as our very first target. Do you know where to find the Erlangga with your own way?

Me, after shopping at Erlangga 2, Denpasar Bali. Did you notice a small bag I am wearing on? That is my Kodak EasyShare Digital Camera Z812 IS. I took the camera with me to anywhere in Bali for capturing and recording. Photo by Syahrir Badulu

Bali has two Erlangga, one and two, and both of them are special places in the island of GOD for traveler both local and international to go shopping. Almost all of the items provided at both location are very cheap especially for budget traveler like me and Syahir. We had very small number of budget for shopping for our families at our home.

Syahrir Badulu , Kang Guru Indonesia champion from Makasar , is father of four children, and I am a father of two. Each time we both get a chance to go shopping in Bali, we never forget to buy something "oleh oleh" for our families at our home. We often visited Bali and we are used to be here and getting some easy things in Bali so we decided to share our benefits for our families.

KAIN BALI : You can get this "kain Bali" with cheapest prices. I bought some for my wife at home, and syahrir bought kids merchandises. Photo by Syahrir Badulu

GENDANG : Syahrir Badulu bough gendang, and I hold the Gendang in front of cashier section before leaving the Erlangga 2. Photo by Erlangga Staff

The Erlangga 2 located a little bit far away from our hotel, so we have to use cab or taxi driving us to the Erlangga 2 which located in Jalan Nusa kambangan. If you lost your way to the Erlangga 2 then you could have asked the cab driver, police or any good people to help you go there. Most of the items available at the Erlangga from kids merchandises, T-shirt, Pants , Painting and even food. You just see the price label on each items. Its simple.

I found the orinal Kopi Luwak which considered as the most expensive coffee in the world over, and I am not interested in getting it. The small package of the kopi luwak with a small spoon size cost around Rp.50.000,-. Its very expensive coffee for me. Are you interested ?. Syahrir bought many kind of children dress and outfit for his wife in Makasar, while I bought some dry food and Kain Bali for my wife in Pontianak

Krisna
You don't have to worry about the location of Krisna, one of the top Balinese merchandises in Bali due to the location of the Krisna is next to the Erlangga 2. Actually there are lots of Balinese shopping malls around the Sunset Road, and you will be able to select them for your own style of shopping. I recommend you to be here at the Krisna for Balinese up-to-date stuffs.

How about the prices at the Krisna? I am not sure of the prices compared with other Balinese shooping outlet due to the variety of the items can be different from one place to another. A small key chain of Balinese image for example, can be afforded with around Rp.20.000,- while the same price might be found at Jogger and the Erlangga.

Do you think this Garuda statue available to grab or for sale? You tell me. Photo by Syahrir Badulu

Actually I have recorded small video during our visit to this place, and I forgot where I put the file, and they must be around here somewhere. Unfortunately I am not able to complete this travel note with the video as I have planned before. You don't have to worry about it due to there are many short videos about this place from youtube.

I still remember quite well that I spent only around two hundred thousands rupiah while Syahrir Badulu bought not more than mine. We both bought something that quite different things from our local areas and unique stuff either.

When we have finished shopping at the Krisna, my attention goes to the two eye catching in front of the shop of the Krisna, they are Statue of Krisna and an elephant. I did not know for sure about those things, and my digital camera Kodak Z812 captured them. One of Balinese around the shop told us that the statue of Krisna.

According to Wikipedia explained briefly that Krishna is often described as an infant or young boy playing a flute as in the Bhagavata Purana,or as a youthful prince giving direction and guidance as in the Bhagavad Gita. Awesome and look wonderful thing.

I recommend those places for your references to hunt local Balinese merchandise with good quality and affordable prices then the Krisna and the Erlangga 2 will be a good choice for all of you during visiting in Bali. Take care of your belongings when getting into this Balinese shops and avoid the possibility of being stolen by thiefs. (Asep Haryono)

We are the Kang Guru Indonesia Champions. We are ready to sightseeing now. Preparing ourself and packed and ready to go. Photo taken in Bali, 2008. Photo by Asep Haryono

Having posted very boring articles about Consultative Group Meeting (CGM) and discussions with Kang Guru Indonesia, and Indonesia Australia Language Foundation (I/A/L/F) yesterday , its time for me to refresh again with fun posting. It is really fun due to no more serious matters or things to discuss with.

Having visited to Bali since 2005 with the other Kang Guru Indonesia champions , I took hundreds of photos during the time and some of those are memories we made with the champions, with IALF staff, sightseeing , culinary tour , cultural events and many others. All of those memories along with our spirit. I had many stories during those period of time.

Today I would like to tell you some stories left during my visit to Bali again with the other Kang Guru Indonesia champions in Bali last October 2008. I have taken some photos during the time, and would be pleased to share them with you just to show that traveling in Bali is really fun and happy for everyone instead of doing some business matters.

A Glance of ABG 2008

ABG here is the stand for Asian Beach Game held in Bali 18th to 26 of October 2008, and I was very lucky to be there just one day before the closing ceremonies of those international event.

Some of local Balinese told me that This is the first biggest and spectacular event in ASIA which attended by at least 45 countries and over than 10.000 athletes, officials, media and spectators from abroad country. Awesome.

I found the overall theme of those ABG 2008 is "Inspire the World’" which representing the strength of the Balinese people emerging from the horrific attacks on the island back in 2002 and 2005. I am not sure of the reasons they put the theme like this otherwise they would not put the slogan for it.

According to the official committee of the ABG 2008 clearly stated that The ASIAN Beach Games is a multi sport even will hold every two years for various beach sports competition such as : beach sepaktakraw, beach volley ball, and many others.

I cannot remember well all of those sport competitions. The event was fully supported by the Olympic Council of ASIA (OCA) and The National Olympic Committee of Indonesia (KONI), Bali Government Office, and Denpasar Government Office.

This is BALI and everything you afford here can be very expensive. An action during the ABG 2008 in Bali. My personal documentation. Photo by Syahrir Badulu/Champion Makasar

I and some of the Kang Guru Indonesia champions cannot attend the sport competitions during the ABG 2008 due to some reasons. Some of the sport events during the ABG requesting some fees , and we have to pay some entrance fees for it. We are not interested in. We just enjoy the game outside of the ring as long as we can see them playing.

I and Syahrir Badulu (Kang Guru champion from Makasar) went to the ABG event together, and also the other champions did the same way. We both noticed some excellent T-shirt of the Asian Beach Game 2008 in the corner of the volley beach competition. We were surprised to see the fact that the price of one single T-shirt cost Rp.100.000,-. Very expensive , right?

I took photo together with ABG merchandise staff in front of the ABG media center. A pin of the ABG 2008 cost Rp.50.000,- a small one. Are you interested? Photo by Syahrir Badulu/Kang Guru Champion

we both finally bought one piece of the T-shirt with black color while Syahrir Badulu bought two pieces with different color with mine. I finally bought one ABG 2008 PIN only due to the price was very expensive to my personal pocket. You can imagine , a small and white color ABG Pin cost Rp.50.000,- and I think the price is quite expensive.

A few minutes later after we both bought those ABG pins and T-shirt as well, we walked through along the Sanur beach around the media center, and noticed an excellent and giant hotel.

What hotel? Wow that is a huge and luxurious hotel as based station for national and international athletes of the Asian Beach Game 2008, Ina Grand Bali Beach. Awesome.

Inna Grand Bali Beach hotel is one of hotels in Sanur Bali which have been planned as official accommodation for all athlete, located at the heart of Sanur. I could see their gardens landscaped around the hotel. The Sanur beach was in front of the hotel and you can easily go to the beach for your own needs especially for other outdoor activities.

Kuta Karnival 2008
Another memories were about Bali's event called "Kuta Karnival 2008". Have you ever heard about the Kuta Karnival 2008?. The Kuta Karnival is another event in addition to those Asian Beach Games in Sanur. We were very lucky to enjoy both events at the same time. I would never let this awesome events go away. I took some photos of the event too.

One of the goals for both events is to give spirits and energy for the people of Bali to get recovery soon from the attack of Bali a few years ago and to increase and recovery tourist visit to Bali at the same time. The Kuta Karnival itself conducted on 16th - 26th of October 2008 at Kuta Beach area.

Having seen some sport competitions in the Asian Beach Game around Sanur , I took the quick route to return Kuta to witness those awesome Kuta Karnival with Syahrir Badulu, a Champion from Makasar. I prepared my KODAK EasyShare Z812 IS to capture those wonderful photos of the parade of the Kuta Karnival on the street. Some of those photos I took have been inserted on this posting as follows :

Many kinds attractions have been successfully performed during the karnival such as food festival, kite festival, sports competition, drawing and dancing competition, traditional and modern art performances, music festival, king and queen contest, fishing competition and many other performances.

My digital camera , KODAK EasyShare Z812 IS consist of some simple and excellent auto exposures and some manual adjustment as well as 24 x telephoto lens. Some photos I took from quite far distances by using its telephoto lens which for me was very useful especially when I came across crowded people during witnessing the parade.

The telephoto lens can capture very quickly both wider angle to full telephoto mode. One funny thing happened when I am trying to take some photos of the participant of the Kuta Karnival from far disctances , I must climbing up the high windows to some trees to get good angle and accurate position "to fire" my camera. I felt like a sniper to take down the enemies in a war.

Just take a look at the photos I took at below. The following photos were my KangGuru Indonesia champions which also witnessing the Kuta Karnival 2008. I was standing in the other side of their position , crawling among the trees and took their photos. Those photos taken by my KODAK Z812 IS and I was setting the camera in a telephoto position.

"huaa they got me" I screamed in my heart. They knew what I did, taking their photos. The first time in my life I behaved like a paparazzi. Photo by Asep Haryono

I noticed some of the Kang Guru Indonesia champions , Ririn Pudya, Keyko , Saptari Wibowo, Fadel and Suryadi in the crowded people witnessing the Kuta Karnival 2008. This is somethingI behave just like a paparazzi taking some photos of famous film star. It was really challenging for me taking their photos without they were noticing it. Am I a paparazzi? You tell me.

Well I think that will be all for now. I have planned to write down some other stories during my traveling to Bali which you might find interesting. Some wonderful memories for myself as former KangGuru Indonesia champions I cannot forget for the rest of my life.

The next posting is some stories during the celebration of 20 years Anniversary of the KangGuru Indonesia held at IALF Denpasar , Bali. Another alternative theme is about visiting to Krisna, and some information about IALF Building. Nyehehehehe. Insya Allah ya. I am not primising (Asep Haryono)
By Asep Haryono*

We are in the big family of Kang Guru Indonesia has been serving in Indonesia more than 22 years and there are lots of things we have done to foster friendship between Indonesia and Australia in the field of English training, teacher workshop , basic education programs and education.

Kang GURU Indonesia has been supported and funded with support from the Australia-Indonesia Partnership (AIP) scheme, AusAID and the Indonesia Australia Language Foundation (IALF).

The Kang Guru Indonesia used to produce FREE English language magazines for years three times a year. Each year , all Kang Guru Indonesia Champions all across Indonesia were invited to get together in Bali , in the headquarter of Kang Guru Indonesia main office in Jalan Sesetan Denpasar , to discuss everything dealing with the Kang Guru Indonesia with the staff of the Kang Guru Indonesia, and IALF.

Perhaps some of you do not know for sure what are they look like in those discussions?. Well today's posting is a small stories about the discussions done with them. I have been traveling to Bali for the Kang Guru Indonesia reasons since 2005 until December 2011 . Beside traveling for pleasure goals, I have also my own priority to be there in the island to join with the other Kang Guru Indonesia champions in Bali for a meeting.

We called them as "Consultative Group Meeting" held by the Kang Guru Indonesia for years. This posting is only a memorable articles for all of us in the Kang Guru Indonesia champions, and I would love to tell you our secret stories of the meeting we did for years.

Invitation To Bali
Perhaps some of you used to meet this very busy lady whose name is Ogi Yutarini. Have you meet the lady? Miss Syahdini, and Bu Temi , Program Director of VolareFM radio , used to meet her a few years ago. A short hair style lady in the family of the Kang Guru Indonesia is one of the those top managers in the Kang Guru Indonesia

Ogi has been working with Kang GURU Indonesia (formerly Kang Guru Radio English) since February 1997 when the project was moved to Bali from its original base in Jakarta. Ogi is Balinese. As Project Co-ordinating Officer, her main responsibilities are the overall day to day administration and supervision of KGI program.

Ogi is responsible for organizing all KGI Teacher workshop including times, promotion and travel. She is in charge on developing and ordering all of the KGI promotional items such as t-shirt, flyers, stickers, pen, pin, buku tulis, bag, and so on.

And another big task for Ogi is word processing, layout design and production of the KGI magazine (now bulletin). Ogi much appreciates the support given by thousands of KGI listeners and readers all over Indonesia to the work of Kang Guru Indonesia for over 22 years. Ogi also organizes the invitation to all Kang Guru Indonesia champions to come to Bali for attending the Consultative Group Meeting (CGM) for years.

He always send the invitation to all of us , Kang Guru Indonesia Champions , through email including the schedule of the travel arrangemenee such the hotel we will stay in Bali , discussion materials , pocket money and many others for all Champions. We were requested to give feedback as soon as we can in those invitations.

The pocket money from the Kang Guru Indonesia for the Champions usually get paid through bank account, and the money being transferred at least one week before the champions go Bali. If there are some moneys spent by the Champions, we have to use them with our own money and get reimbursement after we arrived in Bali. Now you knew our secret number one.

Discussions and Meetings
Now this is the main focus of my posting today , the Consultative Group Meeting (CGM) , and discussion sessions we did at the Kang Guru Indonesia main office in IALF Building located in Jalan Sesetan Denpasar, Bali. We did this meeting for years. It is time for you to know our 2nd secret about the meeting and discussions.

REIMBURSE : This is normal activity at the first time we arrive at Kang Guru Office in Bali. All of us will get reimburse for all expenses and money we spend before. All about the money thought. Photo by Syahrir Badulu/Makasar

Once after all Kang Guru Indonesia arrived in Bali , we have to meet Ogi Yutarini at the very first time before doing some other programs. Do you want to know what kind of activity that we have to do for the first time we arrived and met her? Money, absolutely. We all here get the reimbursement for the fees or money we spent from our provinces in cash. Do you like money as I do? Nyehehehehehee. Awesome

Who Participate On The Meeting? Each of the Consultative Group Meeting (CGM) held at IALF Kang Guru Indonesia will be attended by many people from all sectors in the framework of the Kang Guru Indonesia

In the normal time , the discussions attended by primary participants , our selves the Kang Guru Indonesia champions all across Indonesia ; Saptari Wibowo (Medan) , Ririn Pudya (Jakarta), Fadel (Mataram Lombok), Syahrir Badulu (Makasar), Suryadi Ningrat (Madura), Suryadi Ningrat (Madura) and me myself Pontianak.

Seriously listening the speaker. Well you don't have to wear formal dress on every meeting held by the Kang Guru Indonesia. You can attend the meeting even with short pant like a man on this picture. He was Adi, IALF Teacher, ADS Alumni. Photo by Asep Haryono

There always separe times for the Kang Guru Champions prior discuss before entering the main discussion with the IALF and KangGuru Indonesia team. You can laugh, joke , narsis actions or even eating on this meeting nyeyeyeyeye. Photo by Asep Haryono

For normal time available, the discussions and meeting both inside the Kang Guru Indonesia Champions or with the staff of the KGI and IALF , starting from 09.00 WIB and ended at noon. For your information, Bali's local time is 1 hour faster than in Pontianak. Feeling hungry at noon or 12? Yess of course. Unfortunately ladies and gentlemen, the Kang Guru Indonesia does not provide the lunch package for us. Huaaaaaaaaa.

You just get some small cakes or biscuits during the discussion and meeting with the Kang Guru Indonesia. No lunch package. Most of the cakes and the biscuits provided here are from Australia original. Photo by Asep Haryono

Most of the break time , usually for one hour only , the participants of the consultative group meeting will get for lunch time outside of the building. You have to go for lunch with your money. With our money? Yes of course , you got the money already from the Kang Guru Indonesia right? hehehe. We usually eat at Rumah Makan Muslim Ibu Rahmad or inside the cafetaria or IALF Canteen. Which one you prefer to go?

We sometimes get special privilege each time discussing and meeting with the staf of the IALF Denpasar Bali. We often get invitation to have lunch together with them outside the building especially in the plaza area or the parking area of IALF Building. Most of the lunch are Australian styles and the food usually with Australian recipes such as Australian sandwich and other stuffs.

Short video of my bos , Mr Kevin Dalton, KangGURU Indonesia project Manager who talked about his future concept our our roles in KangGURU Indonesia Bulletin. You will understand now what the discussion held in our meeting in IALF Bali look like. Cheeeersss

Another example of a meeting and presentation about JOEY at IALF Bali. The video taken in April 2011 by my small digital pocket camera. You will see Ogi Yutarini, Mas Alwi, and Mother Joey Ayu Kusumastuti on this clip. Video taken by Asep Haryono

However I prefer Indonesian food to other Westener ones, but I appreciated their invitation. How about the taste of those Australian sandwich, Asep?" well that is a good question. I am not really enjoying the food due to my tongue is original Indonesian, I am not feeling anything in my mouth. The beef is "kurang gurih" (what is it in English?) due to many westeners woud love to use less spicy food than Indonesian. No "micin" or MSG at all. (Asep Haryono)

This is one of my best subjects for the rest of my life , talking about food, and the food original from Indonesia is one of my best meals that I always dreaming of every where I go. Just like I have had during my whole trips to Bali since the last 2005 until the end of December 2011, I always having the Nasi Goreng (fried rice) instead of having the meals in the restaurants or cafees.

Talking about the food is very much depending on personality and preferences, and the taste of food of someone will be different from one to another people. I have many friends who love "mizza" (This word is property of Miss Syahdini, I must ask permission for her for publishing the word again in this posting), which means "eating pizza", and some friends who are crazy of kerupuk.

"Jajanan" in Bali
Regarding having meals in Bali should be very much my concern due to the area of Bali was not Moslem areas and all kind of the food available in Bali will be my priority to select from. For Moslem like me is not allowed to eat pork, and all of the Kang Guru Champions are moslem too.

We are not interested in "jajan" or buying some yummy food on the street like Bakso, Siomay, Batagor around in Kuta' street. We did not know for sure the material content of the meat they are selling, and well I think it is a good idea for us to find moslem warung around Kuta by noticing the "moslem mark" or moslem labelled in front of the warung.

I took a photo of satay seller around Kuta and it seems very good to try, right. I will not recommend you to buy the food on the street. We are not sure of the meat. Photo by Asep Haryono

I have a simple tip if you want to buy "jajanan pasar" (what is it in English?) , traditional food or local food which consist of meat , please notice the shop label there. If you want to eat for lunch, breakfast or dinner on the street around Kuta or another places around Bali, please look at carefully the "moslem label" or " warung muslim banner" in front of the building.

Good. Safe and Cheap Places To Eat
Just like I have mentioned in my previous posting before that having meals will be depending on you, and you have the right to decide what kind of fave food you would like to eat. For me personaly, I prefer to eat the Nasi Goreng every time I was in Bali for some reasons. Just imagine and compate their prices.

If you are staying in the hotel, you could have eaten your fave "cemilan" or real dinner outside of the hotel rather than taking them on their inside restaurant. For me is all about the money, all about the price not only I was a budget traveler, this is about the style of life or life style I guess.

A plate of Nasi Goreng (fried rice) you buy in the restaurant in Bali can be afforded more than Rp.20.000,- or twenty thousand rupiahs or equal to $ 2 USD for each plate. For me personally the price can be very serious matter, and I considered that thing quite expensive for local traveler like me.

If you love Nasi Goreng like me, then you may get the chance to get meal of the nasi goreng during flight with Garuda Indonesia. I prefer Indonesian food to European and western ones which for me personally is very boring, Photo by Asep Haryono

I am not a tourist originally, I am traveler. I think that both two words are very different in some reasons especially about the content. If you are a tourist, you might only enjoy the natural wonder of a place including the beauty of their land, river, mountains and many other things.

If you are traveler, you are not only enjoying those things, but you "explore" their local languages, cultural behaviors, local expressions , people and nation of a country or areas and learn from them.

If you love Nasi Goreng like me, then you may get the chance to get meal of the nasi goreng during flight with Garuda Indonesia. I love Indonesian food very much, I even write down a request in comment and suggestion I teared up from Garuda Magazine, and I filled in during the flight with the Garuda Indonesia. I used to do it once in a life time. I suggested the Garuda Indonesia management to provide Indonesian food for any flight route from Jakarta to Denpasar and vice versa.

The captain of the flight (I am not sure of he is a captain), knew the form written by my seat, and he suddenly came to my seat and expressed his gratitude for my comments and suggestions form I have already submitted through their stewardess. He said to me on behalf of the Garuda Indonesia that they will provide the Indonesian food for any routes as I requested instead of European and Western ones.

  1. Warung Barokah-Tania
Do you like to eat Nasi Goreng with cool recipes, moslem seller , and affordable price? Well one of the best recommended food outlet for you all to try is visiting to Warung Barokah-Tania around Jalan Teuku Umar, Denpasar, Bali.

Back to my stories in Bali (hahahaha boring yeah-red) nope I am not absolutely. Having visited to Bali for years, I have had many stories during my trip to the Island.
Well, one of the stories is about the food , food travel or culinary tour. The theme of my posting today is all about some simple stories about the Nasi Goreng.

When visiting to Bali last April 2011 discussing with Kang Guru Indonesia, I and the other six KangGuru Indonesia Champions have been placed in POP HARIS hotel around Kuta.

  1. We love to eat the Nasi Goreng outside of the hotel which can be reached within a walk. That is the Nasi Goreng from Barokah and Tania. We went to this awesome warung just walking from the hotel o the location which can be reached only with a few minutes, and there are lots of people sitting there already waiting for the food served.

The price of the Nasi Goreng provided by Warung Tania and Barokah here is affordable by any budget traveler like me whose fave food is having the Nasi Goreng. You will find the warung of the Nasi Goreng which located in front of Fave Hotel around the road of Jalan Teuku Umar, Kuta, Bali.

    Speciality
Actually there are lots of the Nasi Goreng outlet you might find around Kuta and other cities around Bali, but what I have mentioned before that the topic today's posting is only one place to buy the nasi goreng, Barokah and Tania around the hotel we lived in.

If you are staying around the road of Jalan Teuku Umar, especially in front of the Fave Hotel, then you will not miss the place. The Barokah and Tania Nasi Goreng based in front of the hotel, and can be reached out withing a walk. You don't have to dig your pocket deeper to pay a plate of the Nasi Goreng which cost very affordable price.

You could buy a plate of this Nasi Goreng only around Rp.12.000,- Photo by Asep Haryono

This is a small video took at Tania - Barokah Nasi Goreng. Video took in April 11, 2011 with my small digital camera Nikon Coolpix L19. Video taken by Asep Haryono

A small regular Nasi Goreng cost around Rp.12.000,- (Twelve Thousand Rupiahs) or equal to around $ 1,2 USD only and I think the price is fine with the taste and spicy which I love it very much indeed. I and some of the Kang Guru Indonesia Champions such as Keyko , Fadel, and Syahrir Badulu along with me too.

If you eat the Nasi Goreng at the Tania and Barokah warung, then you will be given many options to select the type of the Nasi Goreng from the cheapest until the most expensive one starting from regular Rp.12.000,- until around Rp.15.000,-. You will be offered to order a drink along with the Nasi Goreng.

They provide many kind of ice teas, coffees, and many other fresh drinks which vary from Rp.2.000,- until Rp.6.000,- for one cup. I prefer ice tea with little ice to other kind of drinks, while my friends ordered different drinks too. You will also be given two kinds of "sambal" or "chili" and also cucumber too. Its taste good and fresh altogether.

  2. Warung Muslim Ibu Rahmad
For moslem warung, they will certainly put the banner that the food they are providing are really able to be eaten by Moslem as I have shown you the photo above. This is my fave warung around the Kang Guru Indonesia's office in Jalan Sesetan.

The owner of the warung is Ibu Rahmad from Javanese, and we love to eat there each time we visit Bali. Each time we visit Bali , we would love to go for lunch and breakfast at warung Muslim Ibu Rahmad whose location is very close to headquarter of the Kang Guru Indonesia in Jalan Sesetan Denpasar Bali.

Food is very sensitive case in Bali especially for Moslem like me and all my champions. You will find many traditional and good food with affordable prices on the Warung Muslim Ibu Rahmad such as ampla ayam goreng, tahu tempe , sayur asem , lalapan, sambal , udang goreng, mendoan , kerupuk, Nasi Soto, Nasi Ayam , Nasi Pecel and many kind of Indonesian food there. I recommend you to be here for your stop for having meals.

If you have Rp.10.000,- only in your pocket, then you don't have to worry about it. In the warung Muslim Ibu Rahmad, you can afford a plate of nasi campur or complete rice with good meals and a cup of an Ice Tea. It is very recommended for you to be here for your daily meals in Bali.

  3. Warung NIKMAT in Denpasar
Do you like Gudeg Jogjakarta? Tempe Bacem? Mendoan? ahaaa that is some examples of "masakan Jawa" or Javanese food after all. Well, you don't have to worry about the food of Javanese each time you are in Bali.

Having meals in Bali can be very expensive to afford, you don't have to worry about it. You still have biggest chances to find cheapest food with affordable prices in Bali. Actually there are lots of places in Denpasar to have for lunch and breakfast with good taste and cheapest prices.

I recommend one of those places for you all to try good food and cheapest prices in Denpasar, Bali for your reference, Warung Nikmat, located close to Supernova, enter to the west in the area of Ngurah Rai International Airport. For local tourist , backpacker traveler or even every one can afford good food with affordable price on this warung Nikmat.

The Warung Nikmat located exactly in Jl. Bakung Sari, Gang Biduri No.6, next to Hotel Bakung Sari, Kuta and can be reached with many kind of public transportations or just with a motor bike or walk withing the area. Sayur pecel, tumis kangkung, sayur lodeh , Ayam Goreng, bakwan, and many kind of Javanese food can be found here.

The building of this Warung Nikmat under the big tree so you will get fresh air during having meals at the warung Nikmat especially at lunch time. I found one unique thing when having meals here, where the price of the food we are eating in the form of thicker plastic card given to customers. Awesome and unique right?

I have mentioned several places to eat in Kuta and around Denpasar, Bali and as I have mentioned before there lots of public food corners around the are where you can find good food, halal , clean , and affordable prices. If you know the area to eat, then you can save your money when traveling to Bali especially for dinner, lunch or breakfast every day.
