Pontianak Radakng Traditional House or can be called a longhouse is one of the characteristics of the Province of West Kalimantan. Rumah Radakng is the name for the long house of the Dayak Kanayatn tribe in West Kalimantan Province. Its location in the Cultural Village Complex on Jalan Sutan Syahrir, Kota Baru, Pontianak, side by side with the Malay House of the City of Pontianak, makes this traditional house a driving force and a milestone proof of the high tolerance between cultured people in the cities of Pontianak and West Kalimantan.
In front of the Radakng House on which there is an Ivory Hornbill which is a symbol of pride and strength for the West Kalimantan Dayak tribe. Many local and foreign tourists take pictures with the background to the six large pillars, as one of the distinctive features of Rumah Radakng.
The biggest Dayak traditional house in Kalimantan was inaugurated by the Governor of West Kalimantan, Drs Corneis, MH in 2013 at the XXVIII Gawai Dayak event. Gawai Dayak is an annual ceremony of the Dayak traditional ceremony in West Kalimantan. Seeing the urgency of preservation and development of culture, custom buildings were built with a length of 138 meters and a height of 7 meters.
In addition, Rumah Radakng is also a center for channeling aspirations for art and creative culture. Besides traditional ceremonies, this building is also often used as a venue for various events, ranging from expos, concerts, exhibitions, and many other large events. With a very large size, this traditional house can accommodate residents of up to 600 people. In addition, this building is also equipped with a large yard and paving area.
